Regular weekly sessions begin the following week on Wednesday, Aug. 27 and continue through mid-December.
Matthew Moore Jr., executive director of the MiT program, said, “I am looking forward to the fall semester and the future plans we have for the program. I cannot stress enough the importance of this program, and the reward of assisting these future business leaders in setting their goals and discovering their entrepreneurial spirit.”
Each semester, the MiT students establish and manage their own businesses and develop business plans to support their ideas. The program’s entrepreneurial courses and sessions are facilitated by local volunteer business owners and professionals. The courses offered include: Business Law, Accounting/Bookkeeping, Budgeting & Money Management, Career Planning & Goal Setting, Marketing, Etiquette, Voice & Diction, and Business Plan Development. The program is free for students; and is now accepting applications.
Founded in October 2004 by local businesswoman V.K. Fields, the Millionaires in Training program is an entrepreneurial training and development program specifically targeted to adolescent boys and girls (12-15 yrs.). The program’s overall objective is to prepare and train future entrepreneurs for the professional workforce and introduce them to basic business concepts through the development of mock businesses, professional networking opportunities, field trips, and in-house computer training and business seminars presented by successful business leaders.
